What is Jessner's solution?
Jessner's solution is a mild peeling agent that can be used to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation and to treat aged sundamged skin.
 
Before using the Jessner's solution to do a peel is there any skin prepping that is necessary, if so what?
Retin-A (tretinoin) applied to the skin each night for 2-3 weeks.

What should not be done before a Jessner peel?
Do not apply on sunburned skin or traumatized skin.

How should the Jessner's solution be applied?
Use 2" X 2" gauze, apply 2-3 thin coats to the entire face, neck or other area to be treated, avoid the eyes.

How long should the Jessner's solution be left on the skin in order to work effectively on areas of hyperpigmentation?
10 minutes, wash off with cool water.

How should the Jessner's Solution be removed?
Cool water.

What post care is necessary after a Jessner's peel?
Stay out of direct sunlight for one week, apply a thin coat of plain Vaseline daily to the treated areas for 4 days.

Are there alternative ways to lighten skin?
Yes, there are some new natural products that can help lighten the skin. One such product is Xtend-Life Natural Whitening Day Cream. There are others but this seems to be the most effective.

What precautions should I be aware of after the peel?
Avoid sunlight, wait one week before using Retin-A on the skin.

How long should I wait between peels in the same area?
4 weeks.

How should the Jessner's solution be stored?
Do not expose to sunlight, you do not need to refrigerate.

How long is the solution good for?
2-3 years.

Are there any areas of the skin the peel works best on?
Face, back of the hands, chest, and neck are the areas with the most sundamage.
 
Are there any areas the Jessner peel should clearly not be used on?
Keep out of the eyes, do not use on the genitales.
